About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join our growing data science team in a business which is disrupting the industry.  In this role you will act as a day-to-day tech lead, working hands-on as well as providing technical oversight to others.

What You’ll Do 

  • Develop a range of machine learning models via the full lifecycle process (business understanding, feature engineering, prototyping, training, evaluation)
  • Work with the engineering team to deploy accepted models
    Create presentations which tell the story of these models, utilising visualisations
  • Work collaboratively with the engineering, platform, product and wider business teams
  • Work within a DataOps framework
    Review and feedback on technical approaches from other data scientists in your pod
  • Provide technical advice on potential approaches within grooming/sprint planning sessions
  • Line manages other data scientists

About You 

  • You are comfortable working with a degree of ambiguity and can demonstrate the ability to change and adapt as our business scales
  • You have a degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, engineering or similar (Masters or PHD an advantage)
  • You have a strong understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning
  • Strong experience in developing ML models in a fully Spark environment
  • Highly proficient in PySpark
  • Understanding of CI/CD and Software Engineering principles for Data Science
  • Experienced in using version control software (e.g. Git, Azure DevOps etc.)
  • Experience in IDE based (as opposed to notebook based) development is an advantage
  • You are structured in code development and annotation, ensuring usability for others
  • You have sound interpersonal skills and enjoy collaborating with others
  • You have excellent verbal & written communication and presentation skills, with well-structured and analytical approach
  • You are highly commercially aware, particularly in prioritising time

 

Location: London, typically 2/3 days per week in office

Type: Permanent/ FTE

Hours: 9 am – 6pm Monday – Friday with one hour for lunch (40 hours per week)
